Checked and no noise there. Dumped carrier oil. About a pint. Filled again - about a pint. Metal filings on magnet were not excessive, but there was a good bit of sludge.

I still have not located the rattling a crunching sound when I drive for the first few minutes, but I have discovered what makes the bird-in-the-cooling-fan noise when I start the car. The driver's side of the radiator and AC condensor assemby shakes violently back and forth when the engine fires up. It is calm as a kitten after it's running. I can't move it by pushing it back and forth. I watched the motor mount beneath it and had my wife start it, but saw no motion. I'm running out of ideas. The top motor mount on the air cleaner end is already replaced with new factory mount. Is there another top mount on the driver's side (transmission side)?
