Great, we use mega fuses all the time at work. The new Ford trucks have a non replaceable 250 amp fuse for the alternator. I made a couple short jumpers and installed a mega fuse. Been working fine...

All depends if it has to pass California emission requirements where you live. This is in many states now. If the car will pass with a generic cat it will be much cheaper.
