You could be right, Chickenbone. I went back and read it again and I think YOU'RE right in your interpretation. Which is is derf? Inquiring minds want to know. LOL

Yes. Mr.Derf is expressing the verbal communication from others stating that Kroil is the best product on the market in hopes of penetrating the issues of rust at hand.

I love puns! Especially when they're intentional.

I will attempt to do the full exhaust conversion for my Grand Marquis next week. I originally was going to do this in April; but a family emergency had pushed it back. Also, my PTO for May was supposed to be in 2 weeks; but we rescheduled a contractor for that week; so I bumped that PTO to next week.

As such, I have almost everything I need for this project. I just need to get a 90* air impact ratchet from Harbor Freight or something for the stud extraction. I thought I already had one, but I think it's a regular air ratchet. When I get home from work, I need to figure out how to lift the car on all 4 corners. My Grand Marquis doesn't have the massive X-member plate that the Crown Vic has for lifting. And it's extremely difficult to lift the rear when the front is already on ramps. I'll figure something out. Hopefully I am successful with this project; as my success rate has dropped quite a bit over the last few years (thank you Crown Vic )

No pics as of now. Spent most of the afternoon figuring out which tools will work with getting at the bottom manifold bolts. I think I have figured it out. I hope the weather cooperates tomorrow. I will attempt the most difficult studs first because if they don't come out; I won't be stuck with a non-running car. Hoping for progress tomorrow.

I am giving up on this project for now. There is a large puddle under my car that isn't going away. And even if I didn't have that; we have tornado warnings for later this afternoon. We don't normally get those; but we almost always get a lot of rain; so that puddle isn't going anywhere. I will just have to hope that next weekend is a little dryer so I can at least loosen the studs; or even just get the headers on there and piece together the exhaust from there. I will have to see if that will work; or if I will be better off sending the car to a local shop to have them finish the install.

That puddle didn't go away until Sunday afternoon. At which point, I reinstalled the starter and cut the tailpipe back off. I'm hoping that this coming weekend is a bit more hospitable.

Hang in there with it, man. After all, it's a project and most projects take time. Like the bathroom I'm working on right now.

Yah; I was going to tile 1/2 of my parent's bathroom in March; but my Dad stopped that after I had it cleared out and everything set up. He asked if I had any plans to replace the bathtub overflow assembly if it breaks. I didn't think of that; so I gathered some pieces that I thought would work; but he said I needed to source the parts so they don't get jammed up without a tub for however long it would take to repair it. Since the tub is one of those old Victorian-style tubs; I can't just go to Home Depot and get the parts. Long story short; it took a day to order the overflow assembly (which would take 2 weeks for delivery). A couple more days later my Mom said my Dad sourced the part from one of his old contacts. At that point; it was too late as we had already eaten up 3 days. SO I planned to retry in April; and took a week off. As Uncle Murphy would have it; my Dad went to the hospital on the Friday before my week off. You can guess that I wasn't getting much done. So my Durarock, hardware, tools, and all my tiles are sitting in the hallway waiting for their day.

Which brings me to this project; that came to an abrupt end this afternoon when I snapped my swiveling ratchet extension in attempt to take the exhaust stud behind the a/c compressor out. That was the only way to reach it. So now I am searching YouTube to figure out how to get the a/c compressor out. If I do that, I will be able to get the air impact ratchet in there and do the job right. It will also make the header installation easier. So that will be my plan B. And since this is turning into a real project, I might have to take a week off to do it. These things were so much easier with the Malibu and Crown Vic (well, except for the electrical gremlins).

Oh; and as I was packing up; my neighbors behind me were standing at the border pointing at the house or the garage frame. So I guess I can expect letters from the Township again.

I probably failed to mention that my problem neighbors to the left of us, left their house late last summer. The husband had a massive heart attack one Saturday morning; and his wife, who suffers from Parkinsons, fell while trying to get to him. Somehow, she made it to the phone and called 911. Since they always have their doors locked; the FD had to break the front door to get in. This was around 6AM. I woke up as they were wheeling her out to the ambulance. I knew of her health problems; so when I saw her talking to the EMTs; I was relieved. I didn't find out until a couple months later that the husband died; and the wife was moved to a long-term care facility. It's really tragic and I get upset when I think about it too much. Even though they have been a thorn in our sides since Day 1; I put aside any resentment years ago. I had always suspected that it wasn't just them who wanted us out of the neighborhood. So we'll see who steps up to the plate.
