Default 04 vue speedometer/door locks

New to the forum hello everybody maybe someone on here can help me. I have a 2004 Saturn Vue with the 2.2l 5 speed, I replaced my speed sensor because my speedometer didn’t work and it was working fine after replacing it but now I have an issue. It will randomly stop working and I’ll be driving and I hear my doors lock and right after they lock my speedometer work perfect. It happens every time and I’m pretty sure it’s not at the same speeds. I’ve come to the idea that maybe it’s a wiring issue or something with the BCM maybe? Any help would be great thank you.

Locate your BCM and unplug and plug back in the connector several times. This will help sweep any corrosion off the contacts. Ideally, you need to get a can of CRC Electrical Contact Cleaner and disconnect the connector and spray both the male and female connections, THEN 'sweep" the connections several times. It MIGHT help, IT MIGHT NOT. I'm not a mechanic.

I vote we dub Rube an official mechanic.

I've been reading that disclaimer for at least a decade. I never believed it back then and I don't believe it now. I'll make up some type of appropriate plaque from random Saturn parts for the occasion. Look out for spring loaded packaging.

Apologies for the thread Jack

I will go ahead and do that this weekend, I know it’s behind the radio so part of the dash needs to come out that shouldn’t be too bad. I’m also going to clean all the ground connections and flush the transmission due to metal shaving being on the sensor when I pull it out I feel that may interfere with the function of the sensor. Thank you

You're welcome. I sure hope that helps you out. If not, you're going to have to rely on someone smarter. Like derf or Andy or Billy or almost anyone else on the forum. I had two brain surgeries back in 2004 and suffer from CRS. Hopefully derf will be reading that disclaimer for a few decades to come. Well, at least 2. I don't want to go much further than that!
