Thanks for your input and reviewing my post derif & Rubehayseed.
Derif: The mechanic did not show me the P0300 misfire codes. According to him, they were not current but stored history. I did not particularly notice any rough idling or running due to this misfire. I purchased the VUE on August 6, 2013 from a GM dealer in Southfield Michigan. I took the VUE for diagnostic to a GM dealer in Cape Coral on April 6, 2015.

Rubehayseed: I took my vehicles to dealers only during the warranty period. I figured any repairs they perform, the manufacturer normally reviewed prior to reimbursing the cost to the dealer. I have some firsthand experience with this procedure from working at Ford and Toyota.

I was a Mechanical/Electrical Consulting Engineer designing research laboratories
for 45 years. During this time I also I worked for Ford for four years and Toyota for two years. The last 25 years of my career, I started and operated my own consulting firm and Ford, GM, Chrysler and Toyota became a small part of my clients. I retired in 2010.
Although the following three posts are not related to Saturn, hopefully it is OK for me to share them with the members and readers of this Saturn forum.
During the time I operated my Consulting Firm, every two years I leased all my company cars.
This first incident is with a Delta 88 that I leased from a GM dealer. Few days after I signed the lease, I noticed an annoying high pitch noise generating from what appeared to be behind the dashboard. I took the car back several times and they kept telling me that they are unable to hear anything and it is all in my head. This went on for a few months and I finally called one of my GM contacts and told him what was going on. He checked around with the Automotive Engineers and called me back to inform me that there is a design flaw with Delta 88 & 98. The noise is caused by reverberation of the fuel lines. The very same day, I received a call from the dealer, not too please with me and asked me to bring the car to be serviced. They added additional insulation around the fuel lines and managed to eliminate 95% of the high pitch noise.

The second incident is with a Lexus LS 400. I noticed a rattling noise coming from under the driver’s seat. I took the car to the dealer. After checking the issue, they informed me that the locking mechanism is not latching properly. They also informed me that they called Toyota and was asked to replace both the driver and passenger seats. Since I am a facilities Engineer, I don’t believe they did this because they were my clients. Further, I didn’t inform the Toyota dealer my Consulting relationship with Toyota.
The third incident is with a Bravada. Prior to purchasing the VUE, I leased a fully loaded 2002 Bravada. I liked the way the Bravada handled, after the lease was over with, I decided to purchase it. Sometime around when I hit 150,000 miles, I started to receive error codes P0014 & P1345. Since the Bravada was out of warranty, I took it to a mechanic that I used for over 30 years for diagnostic. They focused on the mileage and told me that GM recommends timing belt be replace at 100,000 miles and these codes relates to this issue. They also told me that it would cost about $4000 to replace the timing belt and due to the high mileage, I should consider a replacing the engine for a cost of $6000. Since the Bravada was running great, I walked away from that situation as well. When the mileage hit about 200,000, I was still getting the error codes but the Bravada ran and handled fine. One day I happened to run into a mechanic from a small auto shop in China Township, Michigan and mentioned the codes. He checked the system with his scope and informed me that I have a slight misfire in cylinder #1and volunteered to replace the #1 coil and all the plugs for about $250. All the codes disappeared.
I drove the Bravada for another 100,000 miles until one foggy morning I hit a deer in Gladwin, Michigan and totaled the Bravada. The present VUE is a replacement to the Bravada and this is the first used vehicle I purchased in over 35 years.

As a died in the wool, shade tree mechanic I still do most of my own maintenance and repairs. And the above story(s) seem to me to support my opinions that dealer service, a respected form of maintenance on our new cars or used to be anyway has morphed into a little more than a gimmick to do little more than bring you into contact with a salesman that will try to sell you the idea you need the newest bell or whistle combination. Not an option any longer, but part of a package of things you neither want nor need, but must be purchased along with the vehicle.
It amused me recently to receive a letter from my dealer on my Chrysler, purchased new in Dec. 2007 that indicated I had not received the following 7 or so service items. This followed with a list of "Flushes" that were deemed important to have had made, brake, coolant, and a number of others that in general consisted of pouring a can of fixit stuff into some mechanical part of the car thus charging some were around $50.00 a pop. This from the same group of people who were unable to change the tire/wheel combination from 15 inch to 17 inch while keeping the overall tire diameter a constant to keep the computers happy.
The concept of doing so being incomprehensible to their tire specialist. Who was assigned to the problem when it was requested to install 17 inch wheels and tires on the car.
The sales people these days seem to be programed to tour the storage lot in golf carts to make a knee jerk reaction on choosing a 30 to 40 thousand dollar car from existing stock rather than seeing to it, the thing is equipped with what you want rather than with what you are expected to purchase as a package.
The knowledge of what is available and how to obtain it seems to now be a lost art.
Phoo!

During cool weather, first time in the mornings, after starting the VUE and start to drive, it makes a rattling noise when it shifts. The noise is not there when the cars is parked and on idle. While driving, after the initial first, second and third shifts and after the system warms up, the noise goes away until the next morning or the vehicle cools down to cooler outdoor temperature. After starting the vehicle in the morning, if I let it idle for about 10 minutes before driving away, there is no noise and the vehicle handles as great as if nothing is wrong.
Any ideas as to what may be causing this issue? Four separate Mechanics checked it out but unable to determine the cause to this issue. However, they all ruled out that there are issues with engine or transmission.
Quick question, Does anybody know how many ground wires there is in the engine compartment or where I can find that out. I found out what it cost to have the BCM checked, 100.00 thing is I can buy a new one for around 150.00. 6 of one half dozen of the other. Thanks

Grounds? 47 + / - 96.

I expect any mechanic worth an ignition switch would diag the BCM before replacing.

Not quite sure how to take that, kinda sounds like a threat. If you have a problem with me you need to let me know what it is after all you did insult me once. blew that off by telling you I thought it was funny.
As far as I know the only posting I’ve done has been recently, I have no clue what your talking about. So message me either way and let me know if I’m allowed to continue here or not. I’m not trying to make enemies here.

Umm.

I don't threaten people. Too impulsive for that. I have the ban hammer. -- not that I've really used it much in the last 5 years, So why would I waste time threatening anyone?
How's this?

(Ol' Tennessee Boy) :"Dammmnn Man, whad jyou go n do thaat for? Now he's be ALL cranky again. Look at what yer posting to, man. It's 4 years old. What was it that woman said on the world spide web? Aint nobody got time fer thattt
(Stoner) "Dude!! don't rock the boat, man. If the post is like, YEARS old, if ya dig it up and wave it around like a freak flag, the MAN's gonna see it and send his jack booted thugs to ruin what we got. All of us!. Just stay away from it, amn....
(Posh Spice) All I really want all I really really want.......

The first 2 while attempting to address truly annoying behavior with humor, have much less of a lasting effect than just telling someone to get a clue.

It worked, so......

Try modding any forum for 13 14 years straight and certain borderline stupid behaviors get old real fast.(notice I said the behaviors are stupid, not the people)
Especially when someone responds to a 13 year old post (i think that is the running record) to the last poster by NAME -- above which is the date it was posted --- without bothering to see that a full ice age has come and gone and the poster is banned.

Everyone has their triggers....
Triple post something on your first visit and it is your last. If you don't understand how idiotic that is, I'm not going to take the time to explain it to you. Let the mod of the next forum you join do it.

I'm getting older
Mellower too

I reserve the right to be irritated on a moment's notice
You reserve the right to call me on it.

Sorry if I offended you. Just cranky I guess.

Just check the dates in the future and the rest of nirvana will self-align.

Peace Out
