Hey guys, I recently picked up a 2004 saturn vue redline.
it is super clean and low miles but after some use I've noticed a few electrical gremlins that I cannot seem to figure out.
The previous owner installed a stereo and new speakers, but while doing so installed new speaker wire ro each door and just ran them theough the door jam (not through the grommet.) I was gonna put the speakers back on the normal wires but after disassembly it seems the factory speaker wires don't show voltage when the radio is on.
the door lock buttons do not work, nor do the power mirrors. (Neither really bothers me) power windows work fine.
I figure the amp under the seat may be bad and thats what is stopping the voktage to the factory speakers wires? So if I perhaps by pass it or just replace it maybe the factory wires will work?
Anyone have any insight? Just wanta touch the bases before tearing more into it
Thanks!
On the L series cars with the factory amp, the amp harness connects between the radio and the factory speaker harness. Cars without the factory amp, the speakers connect to the radio. I have installed aftermarket stereos in L cars and disconnected the amp harness and used the factory speaker wires. Look at charm.li there are three different schematics for the three radio configurations available on 2004 VUES. Colors and connectors are listed. These are copies of factory service manuals, you just have to explore to find what you need. It is all there.
I gave you the full path so you know where to find it. You can always start at charm.li and never get your way through the tree, or use the bread crumbs in the link above to jump from one level to another
