Default Is my security system 1997 SW1 not letting me start?

I had to pull the ignition tumbler out of my Saturn because the key wouldn't work anymore. After yanking out the tumbler with a slide hammer, a screwdriver will allow me to turn the lock but the dash lights don't come on and the starter doesn't work. Did my security system turn off everything?. Headlights and horn work, no dash lights, no start.

The 97 s series security system was a simple startrr disable system that was enabled and disabled via the RKE fob. Even if the system is tripped, it resets to "off" after 30 min of continuous inactivity.

The 97 does not have a BCM so Passlock is not in the picture..

The brute force used to remove the cylinder may have damaged the ignition switch in such a way that the electrical connections to the new cylinder are not being made. Also, make sure the part you put in is the correct one for the application.

I don't see where you actually replaced the ignition lock cylinder. Did you do that or are you just trying to start it with the screw driver. Derf knows how these things work, but you need all the necessary parts.

He refers to it as the tumbler in his post.

Definitely sounds electrical in nature.
Probably should check IGN 1,2,3, and 4 fuses as well, though I don't see how they would blow during switch removal unless ignition switch terminals were inappropiately crossed by the screwdriver
