I have a 94 SL2 and it has started to take about 6 -7 seconds to get it started when cranking the starter. Applying some gas pedal some times even pumping the pedal helps to get it to fire off. I hve new starter, new battery, new plugs and wires, fuel pressures are good. No issues after starting, ir runs and accelerates good. Just the start. Anybody have any solutions?Edited by: sw2cam

Pumping or holding the pedal down puts it in "clear flood mode". Which basically turns off the fuel injectors.

Does the engine still have the original engine coolant temperature sensor?

I have found the problem. About a year ago when the clutch was replaced, during reasembly the ground wires for a couple of sensors on the back of the engine were reinstalled on the starter post instead of the ground bolt. Even on the rescent starter change it was not corrected. It was reinstalled the way it was removed. Only one wire should be on the coil contactor post of the starter. The other two are grounded to the engine. It now starts great and runs better than it has for over a year.

Thanks
