Default 1994 SL2 Odometer

My 1994 SL2 odometer has been working intermittently and I just lately have gotten around to investigating the problem.

I have had problems in the past and the red gears have been replaced all ready.

What I need this time is to test the odometer on a bench set up to eliminate or isolate the problem.

There is a three prong connection on the odometer assembly. I need to know what voltages go to each of the pins so I can test the assembly then install in back into the display cluster and then test again.

Thanks in advance...

Is it just the odometer portion of the gauge that is failing, or is the speedometer messed up too ??

The speedometer works along with everything else except the temp gage (I am working on that also).

The only othe problem I am having is that the whitish plastic case is very brittle from heat exposure from the windshield I have to be very careful work on the unit.

94s had two temp sensors. A 1 wire sensor in the head that drives the dash gauge and a 2 wire sensor that feeds info to the pcm

Do you get heat in the winter and or does it overheat?

About the temp gage...yes I get heat in the winter, I don't get a over temp light.

Where is the wire located in the head for the temp gage?

Thanks in advance..

On the driver's side of the engine, below where the upper radiator hose is connected. There are two sensors located there. You are interested in the sensor with only one wire connected to it (this is the temp gauge sensor)

I FOUND IT.....I looked on the right side of the engine and what did I find....a broken green wire. So after I finish up the odometer repairs I will fix that wire and maybe get the gage to work.

What I didn't tell everyone I am the original owner of my 94 Sl2 and have about 270,000 miles on it...

Thank you all for yor help.

Last update...the green wire to the temp sensor complete and the gage works.

The reason the wire was broken was something was trying to build a nest in my engine compartment between the battery and fender. I cleaned the remains out and checked for other damage-none..

Thank for all your help
