The reason I asked about the passive restraint system is that the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) signal is routed through the Passive restraint control module (PRCM) on its way to the dash cluster. Problems with the PCRM often distort the VSS signal such that the electronics on the speedo/odo end (there are electronics that drive these) can't make sense of the signal.
I just re-read your post and noticed you indicated that only the odo and trip odo don't work....do the speedo and the tach work?
What about other dash components?
There are several main power feeds to the dash clustersand you can usually narrow things down by which sets of things work and which don't. Sometimes it's a bad power connection, sometimes a grounding issue.
Lemme know what works and what doesn't and I'll sort through the wiring diagrams to help you as much as I can....

Sorry for the delay in responding.
If everything else works except the odo and trip odo, the problem lies either in the electronics module that drives the odo and speedo (same module) or the problem is mechanical (within the gearing of the odo).
I have a 97 SC2 on which the odo works but the trip odo does not -- but speedo has always been fine. So it is possible to lose part of the functionality without losing it all.
Unfortunately, I don't think you can replace the electronics module b/c I think it is built into the speedo/odo itself. (can't remember) You might need to replace the entire odo/speedo combination....
