Electric Mirrors
Hello! New to the forum and hoping to get some information. Found this board looking for online help for a problem I'm having. I'm sure I'm going to be told that I need to take this to the shop, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask anyway.
A couple of weeks ago, I was adjusting my mirrors, then I saw my rear light flash and my mirrors would only adjust to the left. They won't go up or down or right, and it's the same for both. No motor sound from the mirrors when I press the button in those directions, so I know it's not the motors. They're not getting power.
I'm not sure which fuse it would be to check that, but my understanding is that there are two motors for each mirror, one for vertical and one for horizontal, so I would imagine that if it were a fuse, then I would get one complete axis and not the other...assuming it isn't one fuse for the entire mirror system. Given the flash of light from the rear of the car when it happened, I'm imagining there's a short somewhere. I'm posting this hoping that maybe someone has gone through this before and knows a quick, easy fix to this, but I'm almost certain it's going to require an electrician to comb the electrical system looking for the short...which means I'm just going to have to live with manual mirrors from now on.
So given all that, does anyone have any suggestions other than a mechanic?
Thanks in advance!

Hey, just wanted to give a quick thanks for the advice on changing the switch. Finally got around to doing it today, and for $27 in parts I was able to replace the switch in about two minutes and they work great!
Thanks!
Thanks!
