2006 ion 2 kinda hard to get in gear

I have no idea, derf. The only thing I ever did to an Ion was replace a battery for a neighbor who couldn't lift it out of the trunk.

Correct. Brake fluid resevour is shared with clutch.

It is also a shared reservoir on the L series. The brakes get the last of the fluid as the clutch tap is higher on the side of the reservoir.
Check your fluid level the clutch will have problems before the brakes.

Wouldn't be surprised if it had the same setup as the ion
