I am concerned for you, in my 40 years as a mechanic I have never had a torque converter quit with no other symptoms. I have had pumps fail and therefore a dead transmission. I think you may need a second opinion.

I also found out my tranny is not the 6T40
But the 6T70
I cannot locate where this tranny came from

Also found a paper with parts numbers but cannot find online

Have you looked at the wiki article about the problems with pre 2009 6t70 transmissions? I think you need help from a transmission professional at this point.

ok,

How many times did i tell you to CHECK THE VIN with a dealer?

You have an AURA XR not an AURA XE.
The Aura XR came from the Factory with a 6T70.

They are notorious for 3,5,R waveplate failures, causing shift flares (speedometer up, the vehicle goes nowhere. in 1st to 2nd, 3rd o 4th, 5th to 6th gear shifts. You also eventually lose reverse along the way.

How do I know this? Because I went through it with a 2008 VUE XR w a 6T70 in it.
Extended warranty from GM is 10yrs, 100,000 miles and now hey are being asinine and will only replace it for free if you lose reverse. Even though all four gears are affected.

IF yours is a 2008, find out the date it was put in service by the original owner from a GM dealership.. If you are over 100K, forget it. Too late.
If it is a 2007, too late.

If my symptoms match your symptoms gear for gear, its a 2500 complete tranny rebuild due to the amount of things they need to remove to get to the waveplate to replace it.

KIf too late, best bet is to buy a used one and check the vin to see if it had been repaired before you put money into it and end iup in the sa,me place

my 2009 Saturn aura xe 2.4 L 4

That is what you sent me in a private message waaaaaay back at the beginning.
-----------------------------------
  • Trim Engine Displacement PowerTorque Transmission
Green Line 2.4 L LAT DOHC I4 (BAS hybrid)2,393 cc (146 cu in) 164 hp (124 kW)159 lb⋅ft (216 N⋅m) 4-Speed 4T45-E
XE (2008) 2.4 L LE5 DOHC I4 2,384 cc (145 cu in) 169 hp (126 kW)160 lb⋅ft (217 N⋅m) 4-speed 4T45-E
XE (2009) 2.4 L LE5 DOHC I4 2,384 cc (145 cu in) 169 hp (126 kW)160 lb⋅ft (217 N⋅m) 6-speed 6T40
XE (2007–08) 3.5 L LZ4 OHV V6 3,510 cc (214 cu in) 219 hp (162 kW)219 lb⋅ft (297 N⋅m) 4-speed 4T45-E
XR (2009) 2.4 L LE5 DOHC I4 2,384 cc (145 cu in) 169 hp (126 kW)160 lb⋅ft (217 N⋅m) 6-speed 6T40
XR (2007–09) 3.6 L LY7 DOHC V6 3,564 cc (217 cu in) 252 hp (186 kW)251 lb⋅ft (340 N⋅m) 6-speed 6T70
Per the above table, IF your Aura is a 2009 XE, it has a 6T40.
Only the 2007-2009 Aura XR's w the 3.6L V6's shipped with the 6T70.

The sensor I researched for you was for a 6T40.
Further examination of the GM catalog listing for the part shows it is NOT compatible for use on a 6T70. So I really don't think it would fit a 6T70.
If you decode your VIN online, it will tell you you have a 6T40.

If someone had bought a 2009 xr, V6, blewthe engine, and replaced it with a 2.4L and retitled it as an XE--in theory, they would be in the same car. but it's a different block, different torque converter, the 6T70 has diff gear ratios. You'd have P0700 tranny flags for the rest of eternity.

Have you considered the possibility that you made a BOO BOO ordering the torque converter the first time?
Just because you ordered something that seems wrong for your application does not indict other parts of the car.
I will research Torque converters for a 6T40 if you will pm me what you ordered the first time.

We all make mistakes.

Apologies if my words seem terse, but sometimes people only take notice of what is said if they are the slightest bit offended by it. I will take that chance 100 out of 100 times if it results in helping 1 person who has not responded to other means.

I'm actually trying to help you to STOP ordering parts on educated guesses by some mobile mechanic that in all likelihood has never seen an aura before.

One set of symptoms can be the result of 76 different conditions. My point is, it might be the torque converter---or it might not be.
If your income is that limited, stop throwing money at parts until the root cause is determined.

THe 2.4 ecotec and the 6T70 never met on the production line and don't mate up.
