Question 2001 Saturn sc2 3 door 3rd Generation

Hello I own 2 of these cars. My first question is the one I have that will run (2001 Saturn sc2 3 door) is suddenly misfiring on cylinder #2 and I don't know why can someone tell me how to fix this? And my second question is my Saturn that i drive before it started misfiring is a 2001 sc2 with a 1.9 twin cam and I have a 2000 Saturn sc2 that I wanted to use for parts and it has a 1.9 in it and it's not a double overhead cam. Whatever that means my husband told me this. Can anyone tell me what parts if any from the 2000 model will fit on the 2001 model both are manual transmission 5 speed. And all the Saturn wiki parts interchange list does is confuse me to the fullest.

I don't know about what parts will interchange, but as for your misfire, I'd remove the #2 spark plug and check it. There might be a piece of carbon blocking the electrode. If not, just replace the plug and see what happens. If that works, great. If not, check the plug wire. Perhaps it's bad or has lost contact at the coil.

If you are not using the stock NGK coppers now's a good a time as any. You can also do things like swapping #2 plug for its neighbor, reconnecting the spark plug wires in the proper order.

If the misfire moves with the plug, it is likely the plug. I say likely because if you pull #2.and it is soaked in oil or stinks heavily of fuel, then you need to dry off the plug before reinstalling somewhere else. Fouling is an issue we can deal with if we have to.

As for DOHC/SOHC parts interchangeability, the tranny's have different gear ratios and are not identical. I don't know if the intake manifold of a DOHC fits on a SOUC for 3rd gen. I would think throttle body was the same. All of the pulley driven items should be compatible.

Dang it, now I have to go do research and make a comprehensive compatibility list. It's about time.... Saturn has only been dead for Eight years now
