I have a 2000 L200 car. I got a price quote of $360 to replace the belt and tensioner. This seemed really high but I''m not real sure how big of a project this will be. I found the parts on the net for around a $100. Is this something that is pretty simple and if so could I have some information on how to do this.

Use a 14mm box wrench to rotate the tensioner pulley clockwise, releasing the tension on the serpentine belt. With belt removed, check for grinding or wobble in the tensioner pulley and replace if necessary.

Route the new belt over the pulleys, again rotating the tensioner pulley to allow the belt to be installed. Make sure the belt is properly positioned on each pulley, then release the belt tensioner.

My tensioner was on the brink of complete failure when i got to it. i touched it and the wheel fell off. but if your car is close to mine, the tensioner is pretty easy to replace. the alternator was the pain.

Isnt that a SL1 or at least a S-Series in the picture you''re using as an avatar? If so you have a totally different car than the original poster.

Alternator is a 15 minute job BTW. Pretty easy.
