Saturn Ion Quad4-Passlock problem
Hello to any and all. New member today. I'm stuck in Saturn purgatory. Would like to go to heaven, rather than hell, but I can't seem to get the anti-theft system to either re-learn or disable. My daughter's car and she doesn't have a manual. Can anyone guide me to the key/and key-fob sequence to either disable the PassLock system or allow the car to start any other way. Weird thing is when I try the methods outlined in Google, u-tube, etc. (i.e. - by turning the key from ACC to START for a few seconds and then releasing it back to ACC) the passlock icon light does light but goes out after about 2 seconds. Most instructions say it will go out after 10 minutes exactly, then go thru the sequence twice again then turn the key to OFF, then the car will start. With the lock icon light going out almost immediately after releasing the key from START to RUN (ignition switch) I can't get to first base. Have replaced the battery and wire-brushed all terminals/ground. Also have checked all relays for function (but not resistance) and checked all mini-relays. One utube guide advises how to completely disable the anti-theft system by cutting the white wire leading from the Ignition switch, BUT ONLY WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. If I could get the engine running of course, I would no longer need to Hari-Kiri the white wire.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

While I'm not at all familiar with your car, I'm wondering what exactly you're doing when going from the ACC to Start position. That just means turning the key TO the Start position, NOT actually turning the key and trying to start it. I don't know if that's what you're doing, but IF that's what you're doing, that could be the problem. If you're actually just using the Start position, then I can't help you. Once Gary or derf see your post, I THINK one of them may know what to tell you. Hang in there and be patient.
That part of the sequence requires you to turn it from on to start, not accessory. That means turn the ignition to where the key would be sitting after you started the car. That is the run position. Some people call it the on position.
It needs to go from run to start (holding the key to crank the engine position) to signal you are requesting to the computer that the vehicle start. Not accessory to start.
Run or on is the position where your key sets after you started the car.
Accessory is between off and run and allows you to use electrical stuff in the car. Some of it anyway.
