can I adjust the timing of one cam by one sprocket tooth with the chain on?
I fully expect when I pull the cam cover gasket off of the 95 to find the exhaust cam out of time. The reason I am asking this question is because I would like to be able to test for cam damage before I run out and buy another timing set only to find out that the exhaust cam is wrecked.
I will not have physical access to the tensioner from up top, only access to the camp sprockets. Should it be out of time, is there a way for me to safely pull the chain away from the sprocket far enough to rotate it. I know this is mechanic heresy. I just want to know what I need so that I do not have to do the job twice if I have to do it
Thanks.
I will of course pull the timing cover if I need to. But if I do it's getting a new timing set and I don't want to put that on only to find out the cam is messed up
