Definitely take it to a GM dealership to have them then match the programming. Do not put it in the car ahead of time. They will not swap it unless they can see the mileage on the current one. Actually take a picture of that before it craps out. Dealers will not get within 80 ft of transferring a questionable mileage during the repair like this. They will balk at the fact that you have not purchased it from them. Tell them to explicitly write on the service ticket 48-hour warranty or something that gives you long enough to test at all the functions work and that it was programmed properly. Request no warranty besides that because they don't want to be liable for someone else's part and that is not at all unreasonable.

Other dealers will claim they no longer have access to the BCM programming files for Saturns. They can request them and receive them overnight for use in the service Bay. Be careful when calling their bluff because if you leave them with egg on their face they're not going to do it for you.

I live in N.E. Ohio, and a Chevy dealer here used to sell Saturn, and i've had luck with the guys there helping me on various Saturn issues.

For future reference, if anyone is interested, this is the west side location.

Sunnyside Chevrolet 1100 E Broad St Elyria
440-365-7311

They also had an east side location

Sunnyside Middleburg hts., Ohio
7629 Pearl Rd 440-243-7711

I haven't needed to call either location in a couple of years, so ymmv.

Thx. It's hard to find any remaining knowledgeable human factory trained Saturny staff as most of them are retired at this point.

That's awesome! Yeah the last time I tried to deal with my local chevy dealer they made a 101 excuses. Even alcodelco support line gave me the run around because I was programing a 08' saturn vue. He just bocked at me and said saturn dead time to buy a new chevy and bring that to a dealer instead of learning this.
the 4th support line tech was finally helpful and did something to my account unlocking the saturn programming. If saturn was still around I would buy a new GM product but they are not and I am not impressed by the new GM stuff yet to give up on my old saturn that were dependable. I ended up buying off ebay the old service manual to get the info the locals won't share or has been lost sense the closing of saturn. I figured I got 10 to 15 more years before I have to find anther brand o switch to. I'll just keep stacking those parts and becoming a saturn Guero ..... unless these 3.6l keep kicking my butt 😆 🤣 😂

I feel pretty much the same. I drove my Vue up here from Florida, and it only has 113k miles on it. Had Honda swap out the timing belt and do the multi stage trans flush last year, so i'm going to do everything I can to keep it running, which so far hasn't been too hard to do.
