Default 2009 saturn vue XR short in wiring(i believe)

Hello all,
I have had a recent issue with my car. I was driving it down the highway with cruise control and when I turned on my blinker to get in the passing lane it kicked it out of cruise control and flashed the traction control light as well as messing with the stereo. I believe it switched the stereo over to CD but it could have shut it off for about 30 seconds then the stereo continues as nothing happened. It does this when I turn on the blinker either direction. If I flash my brights by pulling the brights stick back to me it does all the same stuff listed above but my traction control light and a couple of others stay on until I slow down and pull off to the side of the road it seems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a body control module issue to me. Are your cruise and radio controls on the steering wheel? If so they run through the clock spring to the bcm. Your blinker/dimmer switch are below the clock spring but still run to the bcm. If all your exterior bulbs work correctly then I would contact your full service repair facility. Turn signals and brake lights are separate bulbs on newer cars so a burned out bulb should not cancel the cruise control.

Yes cruise and radio controls are on the steering wheel. Sorry for the stupid question. I have never worked with a BCM but is that something that a repair facility has to do or is it a plug and play kind of thing

A full service shop with the proper equipment should be able to program a new bcm. I would discuss this with them, it will require dealer level equipment.

Be sure to call around. Absurdly high estimates will come from the dealers that want nothing to do with you.
Should cost in the neighborhood of $500 for the BCM module, say $100 for diagnosis, and two hours labor at $120 each so somewhere between $700 and $800.
