My car stopped starting so i tapped the starter and it started, i knew i needed to replace my starter. next day i come from work and my saturn doesn’t seem to start which i knew it was the starter, so i lightly tap it again while someone else was turning the key and it started smoking so i got a new starter and replaced it and still doesn’t want to start, i don’t know if i put in the starter wrong or not but i tried to switch all the wires in different places and still doesn’t wanna work. can someone please explain or help me if i did install wrong or not
But if you burned up a starter motor (presumably wired incorrectly) and are now switching electrical connections in search of the correct setup, I must conclude that your understanding of electrical circuitry is not sufficiently high enough to continue this as a diy repair.
I recommend taking this vehicle to a trusted mechanic. Mention to them that there may be a grounding issue at the transmission case where the PNP switch gets its ground.

You may be right about his skill level but using TLAs to describe his problems doesn’t help with understanding what his issue is? Also does it turn over but not start or just no activity at all when the key is turned to start?
