I'm having problems getting my 1995 SL2 Saturn to start. Sometimes it fires right up. Other times it makesa metallic noise when you turn the key. More than the click you get with a dead battery, but no crank.I am told it could be a starter orthe flywheel. I hope it's just the starter. Anybody had this happen before? Any idea how difficult, or howexpensive it would be to fix? Thanks a lot.

Sounds like starter solenoid issue, causing the gear not to extend all the way to fully engage in the flywheel.

Intermittent problems with this usually end up in dead starter later down the road.

Unfortunately, the solenoidis internal to the starter -- so unless you like dismantling stuff, you need to buy a new starter.
