Default 99 SL2 no blinkers

Any luck with this? The hazards and blinkers are not working on my 99 SL2. All the fuses look good and I bought a new flasher relay and switch. I'm not getting a hot to the flasher relay though, trying to figure out how to go about that. I put a wire straight from a positive to the relay and the left turn blinker stayed on. Also when I did this, the rear defrost turned off so I'm wondering if that is somehow tied into it as well.
My tail lights are also staying on.

I wouldn't expect a reply from the OP. Been 15 years.

You noticed that as well, Gary?
That's why I took the liberty of throwing in my two cents..
