my check engine light has been on for about 4 months now. EVERY car place/tune-up station/oil change station i go to can not run diagnostics on my 94 sl1. I think it may be something serious and i want to get it checked, but im at a loss. anybody know a way to check this thing?

If your light has been on for that long, might be a good idea to stop by your nearest dealership, and have them do it...

Yep. Use a paperclip. Just jumper the "A" and "B" terminals on the diagnostic connector and the Service Engine Soon light will flash a series of codes to tell you whats wrong.

I have instructions on my website. Just click the following links:

How to display codes

Diagnostic code chart

Transaxle diagnostic code chart

And I''d stay away from the dealer. They''ll grossly overcharge you to do an extremely simple task then not tell you what the actual codes are. Then they''ll want to charge you an outrageous amount of money to fix something which is most likely a simple fix.

When you run the codes, I bet you come up with a code 26 or 32. Neither of which are a major problem.Edited by: Low Saturn

As per usual, LowSaturn manages to come up with an even better idea ... less expensive. Thanks, Mike
