Shifter cables retail under $200 and take about an hour to replace.

The bushing you mentioned is not anything you want unless you happen to have one in your car for a emergency. That is a super cheap plastic part that may not even get you home, mine lasted a few days!

Another $10. and you can have a solid stainless steel bushing that will not fall apart like the one with plastic spokes that NAPA or AMMCO sells you.
