My teenager's 99 SL w/manual trans severely overheated and wrecked the engine. The cost to install a used engine by my favorite shop is greater than the car's value, so I'm thinking about installing a used engine myself. I have some car repair experience. How tough a job is this? Any recommended repair manual? Do I need to find a donor engine out of a '99 car w/a manual or will other years/engines from cars w/auto trans fit?
