Hello,

I'm about to change the thermostat on my 1994 Saturn SL1 and I have a quick question. Do you have to apply some sort of sealant on the thermostat before installing it on the engine? The auto technician at the parts store said some people do and others dont. He went on to say that any kind of sealant like silicone will do. He didn't make me feel very comfortable with this response. What is the best thing to do (apply or not apply sealant)? Please let me know what you think.

Thanks in advance.Edited by: sw2cam

Dont put any type of sealant on the thermostat itself. This will clog it and you will end up with more problems than you started with.
