Hello. I recently did a head gasket on my 95 sl base model. The car was leaking at the valve seals enough to cause the plugs to foul every couple months. About a month after the head was done, I noticed the car would leak oil randomly. sometimes it will be fine for a month, then the next week it will need two quarts. Any suggestions? I am thinking something pressure related? Also does anyone know what way the lifters are supposed to go in the head. My friend knocked them over and I couldn''t tell which way the oil hole used to point. Seems to run fine now but there is a slight tap. Thanks all.

On the early SOHC engines, rotate the lifters until the flat sides are parallelto the intake and exhaust manifold flanges and install the lifter guide plates ....
