Default oil pan disaster

I changed a cracked oil pan (clearly cracked by running something over admitted to by the driver) on a 2.2L.

The owner got a used oil pan from a junkyard and I put it in no problem. We ran the car for 5 minutes parked and there were no leaks.

He drove half an hour and the oil pan cracked. The crack was all the way at the bottom at the lowest point and looked pretty severe. He wanted all his money back because I didn't "fix" his car. Luckily his friend told him that I did my job and it was his fault for getting a used part at a junk yard.

Before I put another pan on for him, I want to double check and make sure there are no recalls, no pan issues that are specific to saturns (i usually work on diesels) that I should be checking for. I certainly don't want to destroy a much more expensive pan from the dealership.

Thanks

Hmmm -- no offense by you - sounds like you did your job properly, and that was backed up by the owner's buddy (thank goodness). I'm thinking the owner hit the same darned thing he did originally.

my only other explanation was the pan was sitting out in a junk yard for years and once heated up it stress cracked.
