Fan speed when recirculating or not

Question Fan speed when recirculating or not
The fan speed seems to change when I change the cabin recirculation, becoming slower when outside air is let in. Am I imagining that or is that really happening? Is that a bug or a feature?

Only thing that changes is the sound.
