I had the same thought. I put a new one in and it checked fine (750 ohms) but after i ran it till it died i checked the resistance and that time i got 916 ohms. took it back got another new one and it does the same thing. is that normal for it to change resistance as the car warms up? they were both from o'rielly's auto parts. im going to check my friends saturn today to see if it does the same thing. I'll let ya'll know what i find.

either way im going to the junk yard today so ill pick up a cps or 3. im also going to get a fuel injector. and ill have help today so it will be easier to troubleshoot. im not convinced im getting fuel out of my injector.

Thank you guys for your help so far though. I really do appreciate it. This has had me scratching my head for a few weeks now.

I have finally got to where it won't start. I have no fuel out the injector and no spark from either coil pack. Checked the cps again and it is 830 ohms. So i'm going to go through some wiring diagrams and give myself a headache.

well i went to the junkyard, loaded up a parts shotgun and shot my car back to life. it looks like the ignition module did it. It makes since though. on the first gen sw1 throttle body injected models the cps is wired straight to the ignition module, unlike the second gen where its wired straight to the pcu. In turn it was giving me all the signs of the cps.

Side note. The car at the junkyard was fully loaded (for a saturn) so i got all the stuff for cruise control and electronic locks. Just so everyone knows the first gen saturn ('93 anyway) is not pre wired for that stuff like the second gen's are.

Awesome that you got your ride back on the road, and doubly awesome that you made it back to report on the fix. This will help anybody that searches on the same prob you had...thanks a mil!
