I have a 2000 S and the check engine light stays on. I have checked everything I can think of and find nothing. It runs fine except randoming it idles fast, other times it idles normally. New to Saturns.

 

go to autozone or similar. get codes read. post actual codes (Pxxx) here and we will troubleshoot

 

Idle Air control valve/sensor maybe?

Just throwing it out there since I just replaced my throttle body that was one of the sensors on it, I had to disconnect it when adjusting idle and when the hole got unplugged it idled faster than normal, and the check engine light was turned on. It might be going.

I could be wrong though.

Very difficult to diagnose without knowing what failure codes are showing up ......
