I'm throwing a code #26 - QDM fault. Some told me it might be my EGR valve causing this. I want to remove it anyways cuz i hate EGR. Will this effect the computer if it doesnt sence the EGR there anymore... obviously ill probibly throw a code for removing it but will the computer run like sh*t? What are your guy's thoughts.

Could indeed be EGR. You will often get a code 32 (EGR fault) along with the code 26, but not always.

Chances are more likely that it is the EGR solenoid or something else
that shares the quad driver PCM circuit that is causing your code 26.

___

If you've never cleaned your EGR and the ports where it attaches, you're overdue.....

___

Removing the EGR entirey shouldn't upset the PCM any more than having a faulty EGR solenoid that can't actuate the EGR at all.

You would in all likelihood then get a Code 32 and a Code 26. Without
recycling the exhaust gases back through to get re-burned, the
emissions would be greater, so I think the code 32 would probably cause
the PCM to push the air fuel mix to the lean side to compensate.
Probably not what you're after....

Many states will fail you for emissions if the SES is on, so I'm not sure you'd want to do this anyway....

Yes you can................the car may not run very well. You'll get aSES light. You will not pass emissions. Other then that sure take off what ever you want. You can drive with the space saver spair on all the time. You can drive with no windscreen if you want to. What the heck, the police might not like it to much but it can be done.

Well I took it off my Camaro z28 (as well as theAIR pump)and didn't throw a code. And my Camaro ran the same if not better. I don't see why it will run like sh*t after the engine is warmed up. EGR is ment to warm the intake stream on cold start up. After the first 5 minutes of driving it's useless. Apparently EGR is very tempermental to Saturns from what ive heard on this board. Go figuer. And why would I want to drive with a spare on or no windsheild. There's no need for sarcasim.

Sarcasim? I wasn't. What happen with your camaro may not be the same as what happens with your Saturn. You can do anything you like, and thats all I said to you Mike.

i think you are confusing the egr with the air pump. egr is used at all times to reduce emissions. air is for emissions at start up. a engine that is meant to run with egr can have all types of problems without it.
