Ifyou candepress the belt between the pulleysthe tensioner is worn and not holding the belt taut. The tensioner won't deflect with finger pressure so be sure the tensioner is holding the serpentine belt taut. Replace the tensioner if necessary.

Hi weedhopper,

I truly believe ducky is "right on" with your problem. I had the same problem several years back and I had the same symptoms and performed the same steps as what you did.However....Iignored the noise....BADCHOICE Thank God I wasn't too far from my house because all that sqeaking finallyshown itself in the form of a broken tensioner. Don't ignore that squeaking even though it goes away as I am living proof of what will happen. I feel confident that if you replace the belt tensioner, your problem will be solved.
