97 sl2 5 speed .. tranny question

Default 97 sl2 5 speed .. tranny question

ok ... just pulled out from a red light ... got to 2nd gear went to slow down for next red light .... transmission popped out of gear .... now its really stiff to shift ... any ideas??? ... still shifts and drives fine .... but to shift its really stiff... all clips in linkage are in tact ... so i have no idea what it is

The most common shifter problem is cables.

no its all fine ... its just the shifter ... and i did notice after that ... if i get it up to normal speed ... it gets like a slight vibration ... i just hope the actual transmission isnt going out of it again

Mine acted something like that before the cables went south. The clips were attached but the ends had play in them so it might not go all the way into gear. And the cables seemed to stretch a bit over time.
That was the good news.

The bad news is that I had a different car that kicked out of gear because it had a broken tooth on first gear.

I hope yours is the cables.
There are much smarter people here than me so maybe they will be better able to help you. It might be something more simple.
