Wow. Very interesting "trick!" Thanks Rubehayseed. Incidentally, I have been doing more research and it sounds like this is a very common problem with this series, and is "most likely" an issue with the ECTS. When they fail, it does all sorts of funny things to the performance of this engine. To be con't...

Ok, I get a code 32. EGR Circuit. Good thing I didn't automatically replace the ECTS, I guess. The EGR looks easy to replace. Does anyone have any tips/info they'd like to share? Thanks to all!

When you remove the EGR valve make sure to check the passage where it's mounted. It will most likely have some carbon buildup in there too. Just take a stiff wire coat hanger and run it in as far as you can clear it out too.
