Default Ignition Lock cylinder Won't Come out

2003 LW300

Trying to replace ignition lock cylinder:
Key on Run, tab pushed in but cylinder doesn't release

When I try to pull out cylinder it feels like a tumbler or other part is blocking its removal.

Any ideas on how I can try to maneuver the cylinder out?

Thanks

Is there any way you can push the tab in any further, Mike? IDK, just asking. Seems if you have it pushed in all the way, it should release.

I've pushed the tab in as far as it can go, the cylinder sprung and came out about 1/8" - then became blocked from coming out further. I'll keep working at it ....

Unless someone makes a reasonable offer and take the car off my hands.

Thanks for the reply

The fsm says to rotate the lock cylinder to start. While rotating cylinder back to the run position depress the locking button. The cylinder should slide out then.

Thanks, I'll give that a try this morning. Wasn't aware I had to key to 'start-rotate-push tab-run'

Andy IS the L Series guru, Mike. I'm sure that'll probably work for you. Proper procedures are usually the best.
