Water Pump Sprocket Bolt Broken - help!
#11
At the very least pull the front cover off to find that bolt. I grenaded an engine because the upper guide timing bolt backed out (known issue on the OG ecos) and I bent 12 valves when it jumped time. Ultimate carnage.
Harbor freight is a good choice if you just do small repairs here and there for tools.
Taking the front cover off isnt that bad. A 21mm for the balancer. A 15mm for the tensioner. 3/8 drive to take the belt off. And a bunch of 10mm holding it on.
Andy is right. Use a cloyes kit if doing timing. Ive used cloyes and knock offs. I do my timing chain every 100k though, so I use what I can afford at the time. Don't be like me 🤣
Updated tensioner too. And change your oil every 2500-3000 miles to keep it happy.
And for a shop to do it, youd be looking at the tow bill to start. Labor depends on the shop. But id probably charge an hour. I also know the ecos very well though and can have the front cover off in few minutes.
very small chance, but if youre near East texas I can help.
