Okay, I found out tonight that mom can't get the car, so I'm gonna try and talk a trade tomorrow... The best I can offer is my S series and my ranger...

The S series looks good, but most likely could only be scrapped for the lot to make anything. And I think my ranger could sell for more than the $2600 he wants for the ION, but most likely would not do so hot until spring gets here... It needs front tires(I will negotiate based upon such), but nothing else, unless I drive it and find an issue... The truck needs nothing to be a good driver, but could use the rotors turned(I warped em within a month of buying them new, my fault), and the temp sending unit is dead... The ECU reads temp fine, I use an ultra gauge for reading temp, but it doesn't go with the truck, and the heat gauge doesn't move at all... 2wd trucks are becoming popular, due to them getting good fuel mileage, and mine was the fastest that Ford made in 1995(except the first gen lightning)... Wish me luck guys, hoping to get back into a Saturn...

 

take it for a long test drive and get it up to highway speeds. beat on it a little and see how it responds.

Went by the lot, the owner wasn't there, talked to a worker, he liked my idea but I need to convince the owner... I will be back monday... Hopefully the thought of a two for one makes him do it...

 

The owner didn't seem interested in my trade, said the worker today... Like 99% positive I can't get this... A little sad, but at least I'm still in a ranger!

 

Don't take the employees word for it. Keep going back until you get to see the owner. The frigging employee may be wanting the car for himself and is trying to get the money before you beat him to it.

 

Let me rephrase and fill you in further...

When mom told him she couldn't buy the car, she told him I had a trade to negotiate with him, he said he would greatly prefer cash, and that others have since looked at the car... When I talked to the employee, it was stated that he didn't seem interested... I think he has a cash offer on the table and doesn't want to trade his sure $2600 ION for my ranger and s series which could or could not be sold for equal or better money... While I would like to speak to him, I'm not fretting about losing the deal...
