Check the brake check valve and all other vacuum lines and there is no leaks. I believe i may have stumbled upon the issue but not completely convinced. I heard a lot of clicking in the dash and around the shifter so I pulled the covers off the steering column. I noticed that the ignition lock solenoid would click in and out if I would press the brake or if I pushed in on the gear selector button. I understand that it should move in and or out depending on if you're parking or turning the key off Etc. I cycle the ignition off and on multiple times press the brake and gear selector multiple times and noticed the solenoid with click in and out randomly and depending on what I did at that moment the engine would run perfect has anyone ever hear of any correlation with ignition locked solenoid and Ignition lock solenoid
the transmission gear selector having any issues. Wasn't sure if a bad ignition lock solenoid would cause that much problems or not or maybe what I'm witnessing is perfectly fine not sure looking for any input. Even if someone can explain to me how the Locking solenoid works and how it should operate. Thank you
Your car uses two solenoids since you have an automatic transmission. The key has to be on, the brake has to be depressed to move the shifter out of park. The car has to be in park to remove the key from the ignition. You can shut off the car in gear but the solenoid at the key will not let you rotate the key to the lock position and remove the key. This is so you don’t remove the key while moving and lock the steering column.
