I will eventually tear the old engine down for parts extraction, and yes, I'll save you a piston...

I will be saving the head(it'll likely need valves and valve job) and hopefully the crankshaft...

Well, guys, it's alive! It's moving under it's own power now... I'll upload a video of the second start(the first was an accident and I wasn't prepared)when my internet will allow it

I've got about 700mi on this engine(trying to get it good and run in) and there are a couple teething issues that'll need addressed...

1. Random and intermittent P0300 code... I can't feel a miss, but the idle isn't as smooth as I'd prefer... Might just be the tune needing updated for the ported head, it runs great 99.9% of the time

2. PCM is pulling boost under certain conditions(mainly when it's hot)... I read that with a cat less downpipe(or maybe a gutted cat DP) the PCM thinks the cat is massively overheating, and pulls boost... Or maybe my intercooler plumbing is crap and isn't providing adequate coolant flow to the endplate(I'd love to redo it in copper)... Car runs better in the dead of night(cool air) than in daytime... One run with bypass mod(yes I went back to stock) yielded around 15psi

3. Trans has stopped wanting to stay in 5th gear under heavy load(boost)... Could be bad synchro, or just a roll pin in linkage... Clutch also could use some more bleeding, as it's hard to shift sometimes...

In addition to powertrain teething issues, I still have the hanging caliper and failing wheel bearing that I did before that need addressed, but it drives well enough for now...

Stay tuned for more...

Noice!

After all this, you pinned the bypass closed?

I'm not talking to you ever again.

No, I made one run with the bypass solenoid disconnected(to find out how much boost it can make) and then put it back so the PCM can keep the engine safe until I figure out what exactly is going on...

Let the fun begin! You have me thinking of a boosted L200/5.....

The LSJ intake manifold and blower bolt right onto an L61, and I believe the L series PCM is HPTuners compatible...

Just another update... 5th gear is totally useless to me now, with 8-10# of force on the lever, I can hold it in under light throttle, but going into boost kicks the lever back no matter how hard I shove on it, so I've been just driving it as a four speed...

I've put around 2500mi on this engine, and I'm learning that it does use a little oil, it smokes lightly for about ten minutes on a cold start, indicating that it may need valve seals... Otherwise, it runs good... Definitely needs retuned, as it bogs slightly going into boost below 3500 RPM, likely an effect of the ported head affecting airflow...

Where are the pictures of the proud owner and the hood popped Redline?

I do believe you are the only active IRL on the forum.

I've got no recent pics of the car uploaded to Photobucket... I did do a wing delete though, need to sell that piece so I can finance other areas of the build
