Default Saturn Aura 2009 Replacement Key

I have no keys for a 2009 Saturn Aura.

Will I need to have it towed to the dealership or can they cut a key based on VIN? Also what would the cost look like.

Yes, it will have to be towed to a GM dealership. You will also need to bring proof of ownership. It needs to be cut and programmed to the car.
Cost depends on the key price and labor rate of the dealer.
I recently paid 200 for a key to be cut for an 06 dodge grand caravan. That was key/labor/tax out the door.

So there's no way for me to program a cut key by myself?

You might be able to with a higher end scan tool. But I'm not 100% sure on that. I've read that some snap on scanner and equivalent can. But I can not confirm

This video says as long as you have a key cut, there's a 30 minute procedure to reprogram it. Not sure if it's accurate though...

I can confirm it worked. Had blank key cut at dealership and programmed it myself. They even gave me the same instructions as the video to program it myself. Interestingly they originally wanted me to get it towed there but I insisted I didn't need it programmed. Turns out it's really easy. Thanks for the help.

I appreciate you checking back in. I really thought it would have to be programmed via bcm/ecm for the security stuff.

Learned something new
