2007 Aura 2.4 oil pan
Gents; Have to change the oil pan gasket on my boy's 2009 Aura with the 2.4 four cylinder engine. Looks like a bear to do this. Better check with u gentlemen before I tackle this then find out the engine needs to come out etc. Can find some limited info relating to the 3.5 engine but not the 2.4....anyone have experience with this problem? Thanks
I am familiar with the four cylinder engine that is in your Aura, however I am not familiar with your chassis. My engines are in Saturn L series cars and Oldsmobile Alero chassis. I have never replaced an oil pan with the engine in the car. The oil pan is glued to the engine with silicone sealer. The common leak points are not usually the pan to block sealant. The front crank seal is usually the leak point on the passenger side. If the car has between 100k and 200k it might be the timing cover gasket and the car probably needs chains anyway. The oil pressure switch is the leak point near the center of the car behind the starter. The valve cover gasket is a leak point up high on the engine. I don’t know if your car has a hydraulic power steering pump or electric power steering. On my cars the engine can leak oil above the transmission from the end of the front camshaft. If the pan is broken then the engine might need to come out. Which makes timing chain/water pump maintenance easier.

OK...Even if you don't have a similar chassis your information is very helpful. I will look for various leaks from areas you mentioned betore I tackle this unpleasant job and let you know what I find! Thanks so much.
Mr. L300....Not 100% sure just yet but you might have saved me some busted knuckels and a very sore back from wrenching under my boy's car all day....I'm 73 and although I'll do it for the kids, I hate working under a car. I posted a picture of the leak from the valve cover. Although, the leak does not look nearly as bad as it does in person, it's leaking all the way down the engine. There is also a smaller leak on the other side of the cover. In any event even if there's leaks from other places the valve cover needs to b addressed. Thanks for your helpful reply! . .
LW300; Just what I needed. I've purchased items thru Rock Auto before and like them but since my boy needs the auto soon I'll probably go to Advance. Although, my boy is playing video games and doesn't care about oil leaks, I do and I appreciate your help!
