Hi, I just got a 1997 SC2 for my son - surprise for graduation. I have it at a friends house and will work on it there. My first question is: What are those wires for that are hanging down in the trunk? They have plugs attached to them.

Welcome to the Forum. First recommendation would be for you to stop by your local AutoZone (O'Reily's, Pep Boys, etc.) and pick up a Chilton manual that covers your recently purchased vehicle. That'll cost you about $25usd

 

The previous owner may have had an aftermarket sound system (amp, subs, etc).Normally this additional equipment is mounted in the trunk area. Do the plugs look like they may be speaker related?

 

They don't look thick enough for subs or amps. I guess I'll follow them and see where they lead. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't related to the alarm system. Thanks.

 

Thanks that sound like a plan. My guess is that he manuals are for a range of years? Is that right?

 

it'll probably cover all years for the s-series (mine does) as most of the basics are the same with some minor differences between the sohc and dohc versions as well as the between body changes
