Is this a good deal?
Hey Everyone,
My neighbor has a 1999 SC three door coupe for sale-the car is clean, has about 200k on it with an engine(I'm assuming used) put in about 30k ago. I could probably buy it for $700-950. Does this sound like a decent deal? I have an Ion, and don't know much about earlier models.
Thanks!
Neil

get the codes read at an autozone or similar even if the service engine soon light is not on. Owner may have cleared codes before sale. Ask them to also check if the monitors are all in a "ready" state. This means the car's computer has determined that all major systems are functioning properly.
Any pending codes or "not ready" results -- I'd be leery. N/As are acceptable

Staying in the house as much as possible, Neil. Dreading this coming electric and gas bills though. I keep the t-stat on 71 and the wife and kids constantly complain about being cold. I tell them to wear sweats or their house coats. Fixed income sucks!

also consider if you really want to be the owner of a car for which OEM parts are scarce and aftermarket parts support for mechanicals is only ok. Pretty much all the interior parts are unavailable except in junkyards.
