Default End of another era

So guys,

I know some of you have read about me ragging on my 06 dodge stratus.
you guys remember me totalling it back in 2019? It was a Saturday morning. Had it rebuilt for work on mo day?

It finally said no more abuse.
Left work last night and the crank decided to walk on me. Leaving a fist size hole in the block.

Unfortunately with it still having some frame damage, were just going to pull the aluminum and cat off of it for scrap and have it crushed.

I'll get pictures when i have it towed back to the yard (flat towed it back to the shop)

It looks like illbe getting into another jeep as that's all my budget will allow right now

That sux!

Sounds like my 2nd Ranger (1991-4.0/A4LD). I was the 3rd owner of that truck. Made that poor truck do an 80 mile commute each day; carried my Ford 8.8 rear home from the junkyard and later to the shop that installed it after I rebuilt it; carried the 351W home from the same junkyard; made a dozen more trips to the junkyard. When it blew a head gasket; I just patched it with block filler (friend still had some) and ran Blue Devil gasket sealer through the engine. Ran a little better for a few years. Unfortunately, one of the other owners hit a pole or something and damaged the frame; as the front driver side door had a hard time closing all the way; which let a little moisture in. The windshield frame became warped over time and let in more moisture; which eventually killed the electronics. My Grand Marquis replaced it in 2016, but my Mom kept driving it until 2019, when I got the Explorer. Just sent it off to the junkyard. Just the way it is sometimes.

Terrible pic. But started breaking it down on lunch yesterday. Half tempted to throw another engine in it until I can get the money together for a 90s cherokee.

I'd put another engine in it and drive it like I stole it, Billy. Save the extra coin for a Jeep you really want.

Got a 12 6 speed wrangler in on trade today at work I fell in love with.
my 16 cherokee is already costing me 430 a month.
My estimated monthly on that was around 470....unless I could up my down payment to 8k. Ouch no.

Hard pass. 900 a month in notes is insane.

$200 engine and $60 gasket kit it is. I already have a new timing belt, water pump, and power steering pump for it.

People around here wanting 3 or 4k for a 90s cherokee thats been ragged on at a deer lease is outrageous. Needing another 2k worth of work to be daily road worth. Pshhh. I'm good.

They are. And its not looking like theyre going back down any time soon.
I'm sure you know I work at a dealership.

We got the news yesterday our region, that was getting 10,000 cars a year is getting dropped to 1800.
and all regions are going to see drops like that.

Our flagged techs are only seeing 20-30 hours a week if theyre lucky. Im glad I stuck to hourly, although I know that means I'll be one of the first to go if business really starts suffering.

I have been waiting 10 weeks for an input shaft for my 700r4 from TCI, I did speak with them yesterday and it should ship before the end of this month. My company does not expect any of the trucks they ordered this year to show up this year.
