Greetings All,

Name is Cliff and I just bought a Saturn SC1. The big jump in fuel prices necessitated that I find a second vehicle as a daily driver that would get the max mpg. Quick reasearch pointed me in the direction of a Saturn. Fuel economy, ease of maintenance and the abundance of parts made sense.

Craigslist is a wonderful thing. Less than 20 miles away I found a clean 2000 SC1 with the SOHC engine and a 5 speed. Has a 160K and been cared for pretty well by a recent (female) college grad. Well equipped too; a/c, cruise, ps, pw, pl, am/fm,cd. In the last 10 months it's had: new windshield, brakes, rotors, tires, plugs, wires, wipers, radio. Seller claimed nearly 40 mpg on the highway. She owned for about 4 years and put nearly 100K on it. A stack of receipts in the glove box indicated a 3-4000 oil change interval. For $2500 I figured I'd give it a try. At the present cost of fuel and the weekly savings at the pump ($30+) the car will pay for itself in about 18 months.

Got a couple of questions that I'll post in the SC1 forum.

Regards,

Wow...filled up tonight and checked the mpg on my first tank. A wopping 38+ mpg. I can get used to this! Thats almost twice what my Benz gets and 3x what the Suburban returned on the last outing.

Why didn't I do this long ago???

Cliff
