Lightbulb Muffler Help

Anybody know the exhaust I.D. on an '06 Ion Quad-coupe? I'm looking to replace my muffler, and I'm not sure what the measurements I should be looking for are. Can't seem to find them. Guy at Advanced Autoparts said it was 1.25" but I can't seem to find anything (Even adapters) that would allow me to swap mufflers correctly. If there, so some reason, is no way to do this, are there any mods to the stock muffler that are doable? Or would it make more sense to just take it out? Anything at all helps. Thanks.

A survey of the online auto parts sites indicates, for mufflers claiming to be exact OE replacements, that the inlet ID is 1.75".

The Walker 21512 Quiet Flow is widely available, but cheapest at rockauto.com (did not factor in shipping) $74.79

The IDENTICAL muffler (same part number) sells for $109.99 at Advance Auto Parts, so in general, SHOP AROUND.

The 21512 is listed as a replacement for Saturn Ions ONLY.

The above comparison was done assuming a 2.2L Ion 2.

You always have the option to customize the exhaust; most people change more than the muffler to get the sound they are looking for

PLEASE research on your own; do not go out and buy this muffler SOLELY because I found it online and wrote about it

Swapping the muffler on an Ion will not do anything but make noise.

If you are looking for performance, the header/down pipe is the most restrictive part of the exhaust on the base model.

You can easily swap to the Ion Redline stock exhaust. That will be a nice upgrade.

Or go with a ZZP/OTTP header/downpipe combo, with a mandrel bends catback (they come with a magnaflow muffler, and that's what I personally use and get tons of compliments).

Can have a full exhaust for about 800.

My set up is a ZZP mid length header, catted 3 in downpipe, 2.5 in catback with zzp resonator and magnflow muffler. Cant even hear it unless I step on the happy pedal, then she screamsss

I will add that there is a number of reputable sellers of headers for the ION, and a used IRL header will do nicely on a base model... I have the BadMab shorty header, ZZP downpipe, and MagnaFlow cutback on my IRL, and when driving normally, the sound is civil... When I step on the throttle however, she sounds pretty...
