Odometer stopped working, speedo fine...
I've got a 92 SC2 DOHC and the Odometer has stopped working, but the speedometer is fine. Both the total miles and trip counter are not functioning.
Does anyone have any idea's? Is this an electrical problem or mechanical?
Note: I just replaced the rear brake pads etc., might I have unhooked something?
I've the the Chiltons book, and it doesn't cover the odometer or speedometer.

I'm unsure, I'd have to dismantle to find out.
I was hoping some one would know which one a 92 would be.
I don't mind doing the work, just hoping for a bit of guidance.
I've looked under the dash, and don't see any mechanical cables. I had a Honda Accord years ago that one of those wire cables in a flexible metal sleeve that drove the speedometer. There was nothing like that.
I personally think a cable from a rear wheel would be a silly way to work the odometer, but with cars, who knows...

The odometer and trip meter for your car is a mechanical device, but it is driven by an electrical signal from the speedometer electronics package (same as on my '93). I'd look for a used module at your local U-Pull-It yards as that would be a lot cheaper than buying a new one through a dealership (assuming they could get one)
