Key Remote Stopped Working
The keyless remote for my 2003 LW300 Saturn stopped working. I replaced the battery and have followed the handbook manual instructions for synchronizing the transmitter but it still does not work. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Please help.

Does it make the expected number of horn honks when programming or is it silent?
Either way, gently open up the remote case, remove the battery, remove the rubber overlay, and use a SOFTish pencil eraser to clean the contacts where the rubber hits the metal on the top of the circuit board.
NOTE; If you crack the thin lip that supports the edge of the circuit board on the bottom of the case, the remote will not work because when you push down on the rubber, there is nothing to keep the circuit board from also moving. Therefore, the buttons on the circuit board are never activated and nothing works.
Actually I thought 2003 had to be reprogrammed by a stealership......can someone pls verify yea or nay.........
Also, before doing anything else pull the RKE fuse and check it w an ohmmeter.

sorry -- missed your post.
Take it to any GM dealer. They all have Tech II's I believe.
I recommend a trustworthy chevy dealer. Prob $50-60
If nothing else is wrong with the car, don't let them sell you on a BCM reprogramming you don't need to the tune of $500

Update: Oops! I underestimated cost. My husband told me the real total cost was $140 plus tax! Had to buy a new remote fob because dealer tried but could not program old one, so we ended up paying $80 for a new remote fob and $60 for program labor.
