Default Ignition switch problems

I am on the second ignition switch for my 2006 Saturn Ion. It has started to act up again. The key will not turn the car off. It seems to encounter resistance in unlocking the doors. I discovered if I unlock all the doors with the switch in the driver's side door, BEFORE I TRY TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE, there is no more problem. Since the previous ignition switch was doing the same thing, I believe it has something to do with the interaction of the ignition and door mechanism. Hope this helps someone. The Saturn has been a great car except for this.

OOoooooooo --- now, that is an interesting problem.

I assume from your note that you purchased the car new - please correct me if I am wrong. Also, the car didn't originally have this problem, it started up after a period of time. Thirdly, when you replaced the ignition switch the first time, the problem went away, but only for a period of time, and now it has started to misbehave again -- have I got it all right?
